Keratoconus - age of diagnosis?
  • why is everyone else diagnosed with it in their 20s? i was 14 when i was diagnosed with it


  • My fiance was 14 also when he was diagnosed, his little brother too a year later.


  • This has to do with statistics. Almost all phenomena can be analyzed in a bell shaped curve. What that means is that a majority of people or things or measurements of things fall in the center of a bell shaped curve. As you move further from the center of a bell shaped curve you see fewer individuals, or things, or measurements BUT that doesn't mean there are not any people who are at the low or high end of a bell shaped curve.

    What in the world does this mean? It means that even though most people develop keratoconus in their twenties there are still some who will develop it much earlier or much later than the expected range of the twenties.
